Me and My Random Walks

I've found myself going for a lot more random walks recently. I used to go for one every time I needed to clear my mind and stop thinking about stuff, now I go for walks because I enjoy going to random places. My last walk, on Tuesday, was the longest in a while (just over an hour).
This time my walk led me first to then, where I got my usual plain double cheese burger, medium fries and a small coke (I'm so predictable, they start cooking it before I'm even at the counter). I then headed off and ended up in the drinks eile of Tesco's. After much deliberation, I decided to deprive them of their last chocolate Frijj. I then walked down Bradham lane and up St. John's Road, then took a detour via Brixington Shops (to get phone credit with my non-existent top-up card!) After that fiasco (I didn't actually go into the shops, I noticed just before luckily) I decided to head back home, to find a very bemused cat trying to lick its nose and a dog that looked stoned.
My life is so random.

Dejected

There's times when you can feel really elevated and happy, and there's times when you can feel really dejected and miserable - this is one of those times. Everyone has now left for university, as of Sunday. The next time I will get to see most of them is at christmas. Luckily, Tash will still be down here 3/4 days a week, so things won't be so bad. It still feels weird without everybody here though. Tom and Will both have blogs (Well, sorta. Will, drop MSN and get a real blog! =p) so I can keep p-to date with them, I don't know of anyone elses though. If anyone else wants one let me know, I coud do wth the extra stuff to do!
Ah well. Back to moping around doing nothing. I think I might just go bed. It's midnight, I feel kinda drowsy. I have a ton of pictures still to upload, I'll get around to them some day soon.

Joke, Fact, Quote and Word Of The Day

I've just added some cool new features to the website, which you can see by looking down the left and right sides. They are 'Quote Of The Day' (To replace random quotes), 'Word Of The Day', 'Joke Of The Day' and 'Fact Of The Day'. Each of these, as you may have guessed, will be updated on a daily basis.
I have also integrated another feature, which isa comments form that is embedded in the page - you can access that by clicking the 'Leave a Comment' link on each post!

What Is It With This Article?

Back in February I wrote an article entitled "What Is It With Firefox?" It's nothing special, it's nothing that hasn't been said before, in fact, the last paragraph is incorrect, and it's certainly not worthy of the response it has received since I published it.
I did a search on google for my article, and I was presented with 389 results. That's 385 more than I was expecting. (I submitted it to 3 article sites, and posted it on the FTG Weblog). What surprised me the most though, is the amount of scraper sites that have got their hands on it.
Don't get me wrong, I know that that is what scraper sites do, but I don't see any immediate benefit behind these sites using my article. It's written by me; there's your first flaw, it's incorrect at the end; there's your second flaw, it is completely unrelated to the rest of the scaped content (minus the few words they scraped it for); there's your third flaw.
Three strikes, your out.

Going, going, gone...

All the uni-goers leave tomorrow/next week (Tom, Lucy, Alex, Will, Tash). It's not nice. I guess not going to university myself, I don't really understand the point or meaning behind it. I just know that it's not a nice thing to have to go through saying goodbye to all your close friends that you won't see until the holidays. Having got into my job by other means (E2E, Work Experience, Modern Apprenticeship) I never needed to go to university and get any further qualifications, so it seems a weird really.
The next time everyone will be here is Christmas. That's 10 weeks away. Too long. There's always a difference in being able to talk to somebody and knowing that they are near you in a physical form, and being able to talk to somebody without them being near in physical form. It's like a missing piece of a huge picture, and no matter how hard you try you just can't find something that can fill that piece that's missing...
So to everyone who is going to university now I can only say to have a fantastic time, and I hope you will be able to check this site out and see how things are here in good 'ole Exmouth. And see how I am of course - please sign up for the forums and post when you get the chance, I check every day. I'll be uploading pictures all the time, and writing up on how things are going, just to make sure that you get that extra more homesick than you hopefully will be already :o)

Turning Blogger Into a Guestbook

One thing I want to include on my sites is a guestbook, the only ones I have tried either function really poorly or are engulfed in spam days after you launch them. As is the current problem with my Forfeit The Game one. That is why I have decided to use Blogger's functionality to make it work as a guestbook would. Everybody loves to post in a guestbook, and they function in much the same way as a forum does - In fact, you could probably tailor this to a forum as well. Blogger couldn't be simpler to use, it doesn't require a database, it doesn't even require you to host it, and it can work as a guestbook exceptionally easily!
It is because of this that I will be launching BloggerHacks very soon. Over the time I have been using Blogger I have come up with many weird and wacky ways to use it - ways that you just don't see on other blogs - at least not ones that I have found. So if you are interested in the Blogger Guestbook, keep an eye on BloggerHacks over the coming weeks, I will try to get it active as soon as possible!

I Freaking Hate Moths!

I'm no stranger to moths, but the one that just flew in my window scared the living crap out of me. Now, I get big moths come in my room all the time, they fly around the lights, hit their heads a few times, fly off and find a nice empty spot on the wall to occupy - this doesn't bother me usually. (though their heads could be made out of foam or something so they don't make so much noise whilst concussing themselves).
Now, bearing that in mind, the moth that just came in made me cower. It landed on my screen and I literally flung myself back on to my bed and cowered out of my bedroom door to find a suitable enough weapon of destruction. The moth in question was about 1 and a half inches long and scary as fuck. Luckily for me it flew out of the window eventually, which prompted me to remove the other 3 smaller ones that were sitting pretentiously by the ceiling, and lock my window very securely.
Now that that is over I am going to cower into my bed in a very disturbed and slightly paranoid manner. Oh the joys...

Getting Lost in Lost (Part II)

I posted previously about how much I like Lost. I managed to squeeze a bit of time out of my busy (read: lazy) schedule to watch episodes 5 and 6, and they are quite fantastic. It's shame these are only on once a week, I could watch them on a much regular basis. I might even think about purchasing the DVD, but I think it may be better to wait and watch them over time, as series 2 is just getting underway in America. I wouldn't want to have to wait a year for it to come over here now would I? :o)

New Images and the Random Selections

A few changes to the website - I have added a load of images. Most of them are from the trip to Plymouth's National Marine Aquarium, and there are still quite a few left to add from that trip. I also have a ton from the Paignton Zoo trip to add, a few from Will's birthday earlier this year (featuring a very scary picture of me with short hair!), and a ton from mine and Gemma's birthday party in June.
To view all the new images check out the "Imagery" page. Each image has it's own page, and a short description of the photo itself, I will probably be expanding upon this (as can be seen in the Paignton Zoo photo of a Meerkat) to hold lots of information about the things in the pictures themselves, as well as my description.
You will also notice I've added the "Random Image" selection to the left, and I've added some more quotes, changed the "recommendation" a bit, and the site is now offcially out of Beta! :o)

Team America is Ok, Hitchikers is Fantastic

I watched Team America last night. It's ok, nothing special. It was funny in parts, but otherwise it was quite a boring film. The theme tune was quite funny too. I wouldn't watch it again though.
We also watched Hitchikers Guide To The Galaxy on Monday. Very funny film. I've never read the book itself so I don't know how accurate it is, and I didn't really have anything to compare it to, but I still enjoyed it a lot. I've never thought highly of Martin Freeman (not a fan of The Office), but I think both him and Mos Def played the parts well. I will most definately be buying the movie at some point. I want Marvin too :o)

Time For a Break

Wow, it's 4:25pm already. Time has gone surprisingly quickly after about 10:30 this morning - it seemed to drag on before that. Ah well. Time for a break me thinks. Getting a bit of a headache. I think it's the fan? Might not be though.
Wow, my brain has conked out on me, i'm completely oblivious as to what to write. I've gotta work on converting one of our websites again once my breaks done. Fun, fun as always.
